‘Kleinschalige vanonderuit-initiatieven ondersteunen’ en ‘groeikansen bieden aan vernieuwende makers’: dat waren twee adviezen die de Cultuurraad in zijn Memorandum aan het begin van de legislatuur formuleerde om een cultuurbeleid in een superdiverse context te ontwikkelen. Mooie ambitie, maar makkelijker gezegd dan gedaan. Halverwege de legislatuur besloot de Cultuurraad deze adviezen concreter te maken.
We vroegen aan 46 ‘vernieuwende makers’ uit de superdiverse stad om mee in kaart te brengen waar het schoentje knelt en waar zij opportuniteiten zien voor een cultuurbeleid dat het cultureel potentieel van de stad beter benut. Op basis van deze gesprekken formuleren we hier een radicaal positief voorstel. We geloven dat er geen beter moment is om gedurfde en grote sprongen voorwaarts te zetten.

‘Support small-scale bottom-up initiatives’ and ‘offer innovative makers opportunities to grow’: these were two pieces of advice the Culture Council formulated in its Memorandum at the beginning of the legislature to develop a culture policy in a super diverse context. Nice ambition, but easier said than done. Halfway through the legislature, the Culture Council decided to concretise these advices.
We asked 46 ‘innovative makers’ from the super diverse city to help mapping out where the shoe pinches and where they see opportunities for a culture policy which makes better use of the city’s cultural potential. Based on these conversations, we formulate a radically positive proposal here. We believe there is no better moment to take bold and big leaps forward.
