Drie jaar nadat de NMBS de site verlaten heeft, engageren het Cultuurplatform, de Stad Gent en de nieuwe eigenaren van de Arsenaalsite (consortium Arsenaal 3PK) zich om van 11 september tot en met 9 oktober een feestelijke maand met een divers programma aan activiteiten en evenementen te laten doorgaan op een deel van de Arsenaalsite. Deze maand vormt enerzijds het startpunt en anderzijds een eerste testcase voor de tijdelijke invulling van de site vanaf 2023.
Deze eerste stap met opening op 11 september ‘Open Monumentendag‘ komt er op initiatief van het Cultuurplatform Arsenaal.Site, een koepelorganisatie van verschillende Gentse culturele organisaties die elkaar vonden via het Gents Kunstenoverleg. Het Cultuurplatform kijkt in de eerste plaats naar een deel van de site als een plek waar tegemoet kan komen aan de vele noden uit het Gentse culturele landschap waarbij ook vooral op de vraag vanuit de sector naar ruimte een concreet antwoord kan geformuleerd worden.

Three years after the SNCB (NMBS) left the site, the Culture Platform, the City of Ghent and the new owners of the Arsenaal site (consortium Arsenaal 3PK) commit themselves to organise a festive month with a diverse programme of activities and events on a part of the Arsenaal site from 11 September to 9 October. This month will, on the one hand, be the starting point and, on the other hand, a first test case for the temporary assignment of the site from 2023 onwards.
This first step, the opening of Open Monuments Day on 11 September, was taken on the initiative of the Culture Platform Arsenaal.Site, an umbrella organisation of several cultural organisations in Ghent which found each other through Gents Kunstenoverleg. The Culture Platform looks in first place at a part of the site as a place where the many needs of the cultural landscape in Ghent can be met, whereby a specific answer can be formulated for especially the sector’s demand for space.
