Als jonge kunstenaar kan het een hele opgave zijn om de deur naar de professionele sector open te breken. Velen vallen na hun kunstopleiding in een gat en komen nooit in het kunstveld terecht. Voor selfmade kunstenaars zonder diploma is de uitdaging nog groter. Een netwerk, subsidies, eerlijke kansen, goedkope werkruimte, statuut als kunstenaar: hoe doe je dat?
In Pairing is Caring koppelen we een ‘opkomende’ kunstenaar aan een meer ervaren kunstenaar of een cultureel werker zodat kennis over het opzetten van je carrière als kunstenaar kan worden uitgewisseld. Deze ondersteuner of ‘buddy’ kan je dan van tijd tot tijd helpen met je individuele vragen over nieuwe contacten, subsidies, vergoeding, ruimte, volgende stappen in je carrière… Samen beslissen jullie hoe en onder welke voorwaarden jullie deze uitwisseling willen organiseren. Op deze matchingsdag ontmoet je enkele ervaren kunstenaars en/of cultuurwerkers in jouw discipline, heb je een kort gesprek en word je vervolgens gekoppeld aan een ondersteuningsmaatje!

As a young artist, it can be quite a task to break open the door into the professional sector. Many people fall into a gap after their art education and never make it into the art field. For self-made artists without a diploma the challenge is even bigger.. A network, subsidies, fair opportunities, cheap workspace, status as an artist: how do you do it?
In Pairing is Caring we match an ‘emerging’ artist with a more experienced one or a cultural worker so that knowledge on how to set up your career as an artist can be exchanged. This support person or ‘buddy’ can then help you from time to time with your individual questions concerning new contacts, subsidies, remuneration, space, next steps in your career… Together, you will decide how and under what conditions you want to organise this exchange.
On this matching day, you will meet a few experienced artists and/or cultural workers in your discipline, have a short talk and will then be matched with a support buddy!
